Thanksgiving 2009

Jeff and I both had to work on Thanksgiving night, so Hailey stayed the night with my parents. On the Saturday after Turkey day, we were able to celebrate with my family. It was so great to see everyone, and after dinner we were able to celebrate my Grandma's birthday. Hailey had a great time running around and entertaining everyone. She went through great grandma's bag and found her high heels. Of course she wanted to wear them, and wear them she did! She walked around the whole house in the heels, I think she walked in them better then I ever have!

The next day, we were horrified to hear that 4 Lakewood police officers had been murdered while sitting innocently inside a coffee shop. This occurred less then a month after the murder of Seattle PD officer Tim Brenton. What is wrong with the world? I am scared for Jeff, and for our family and friends who are in law enforcement. I am scared about Hailey growing up in an unsafe world. I don't even have the words to express how I feel...

Be thankful for everyone and everything in your life.

Festival of Trees

Last Saturday we went to the Festival of Trees in Mt. Vernon which is put on as a fundraiser for the Skagit Valley Hospital. They have very elaborately decorated trees that are auctioned off to members of the community. Hailey really liked the Burlington Edison High School tree (much to my disappointment!), because it had a big tiger at the top of it. She now knows how to growl like a tiger and move her hand like she is clawing something. Jeff and I really liked the Grinch themed tree, which was upside down.

New hat

I found this adorable hat on my favorite website, Mamabargains.com...although it isn't Jeff's favorite website :-) Santa is actually going to be giving the hat to Santa this year, but I had to at least see if it fit right?

Chuck E. Cheese

Jeff and I are both on nights, so our schedules are the exact opposite so one of us can be home with Hailey at night. So we haven't had a day off together in 17 days! So on Wednesday we wanted to do something fun as a family...so we headed off to Chuck E. Cheese in Burlington! It was practically empty, so it was nice and quiet. Hailey was a bit intimidated at first of the rides and especially of the big Mouse that moves, but after Grandma got there, she was ready to try a bit of everything. Jeff took Hailey up in the tubes to play, she really liked crawling around and looking down at us. It was a great day.

I am looking forward to returning to day shift in early December, so I can return to a normal schedule. Also, I am SO excited for the upcoming Holidays! Jeff and I both work Thanksgiving night, so Hailey is going to spend the night with my parents, and we are going to celebrate our Thanksgiving on Saturday. Jeff and I both have Christmas off this year which is amazing! I can't wait to get our tree up :-)

Whatcom Falls and pizza

We haven't been about to play outside much lately, so during a break in the rain we picked up a pizza and when to Whatcom Falls park to let Hailey burn off some energy. We got to play for a good 20 minutes before it started hailing.

Windy days

Hailey has some new words she likes to say: "Night Night" and "cheese". She is learning so much each day. When we get home from somewhere now, she wants to take her sweatshirt off and tried to take her shoes off because she sees us doing it. She also likes to wear our shoes.

The weather has been windy, rainy and nasty! We had a large tree branch fall on the house a couple days ago, and Jeff was working so he wasn't here to check it out, but I told him about it in the morning. Didn't think much about it until later the next night when Hailey spotted a big water mark on the ceiling and asked "what's that?". Turns out the branch punctured the roof. The next day we had a roofing company come out and fix it. We thought we were going to have to replace sheet rock and insulation, but it's not that bad. We are just waiting for it to dry out, and then we will begin the fun task of painting the ceiling :-(

Helper

Jeff got a new stereo thingie and Hailey really wanted to help him get it set up...but then she got distracted by his hat and stole it off his head so she could wear it.

Also, Hailey likes to turn her sippy cup upside down on the carpet and watch the liquid come out. I hate it and I have to either take the cup away or follow her around to make sure she isn't doing it. Well, now Hailey has started cleaning up the spills herself. She spills the liquid, then goes in to the kitchen, grabs the towel off the fridge and goes to the spot and "wipes" it up. It's pretty darn cute and really makes us realize what a sponge she is. We forget that she is always watching us and learning from our behaviors.

Ear infections

For the past couple days, Hailey has been pretty cranky at bedtime and hasn't been sleeping well. She also threw up once :-( So I took her to the doctor today, and she has two ear infections, poor girl! Here she is at dinner, trying to put food in her ear, probably because they hurt.

Tutu time

Hailey really likes this tutu, and I'm glad because it's is super cute. She will carry it over to me, and then sit down on the ground while hitting it on her feet to let us know that she wants to wear it. It really completes any outfit. :-)
