Vancouver Zoo

It was zoo week for us! We also went to the Vancouver Zoo with one of Jeff's co workers and his daughter Abigail. Hailey has been saying "Abigail" over and over again for the past week, so I was really glad they got to hang out again. Abigail is one year older then Hailey and she is a sweet girl who loves to share. Which is a very good thing, because anything she has, Hailey wants, especially snacks!

The zoo was pretty empty, so the kiddos got to run around. We took a train ride around the zoo and played on the playground. We also got to see the Baboons get fed! Hailey loved pushing around Abigail's stroller and wanted to focus more on that then checking out the animals.

I think our favorite animals were 2 baby moose's, named Maverick and Goose!

Ring around the rosy...

I discovered that Hailey really likes to play ring around the rosy. She wants to do it over and over, so I had to modify it a bit because I was getting too dizzy. Instead of both of us spinning in a circle, I sit on the floor and let Hailey run around me while I hold her hand. She laughs and laughs, and then throws herself at me at the end and I have to catch her. It's really fun! Here are some action shots!

Zoo

We headed to Seattle for some Zoo fun! We stopped at Dick's Drive in to grab lunch before we hit the zoo. We got Hailey a burger and figured she would take a bite or two and then give it to one of us to finish off :-)...no, she ate the WHOLE thing! She has never shown an interest in meat, and will normally spit out any meat we give her. She must have been starving, or her preferences are starting to change. After her burger was done, she washed it down with some of Jeff's chocolate shake.

We had a ton of fun at the zoo and we were impressed that Hailey walked most of the time. Her little legs must have been tired! Hailey's favorite exhibit was by far the penguins, there was one penguin who swarm back and forth in front of the glass and Hailey chased him up and down the wall watching him swim. It was cute.

It was a long day for Hailey and she was a real trooper. Normally we (I) stick to a pretty strict schedule of nap time at 12:30-2:00, and then bed time at 7:30. But on this day, Hailey made it until 4pm without a nap and then slept in the car for about 45 minutes on the way home. That night however, she did not want to go to bed and stayed awake until 11pm :-( It was worth it though because we had such a great day!

Outside fun

We have been playing outside so much lately. The weather is just too nice to be inside, we want to enjoy every minute of it. Hailey is really independent right now. She wants to always walk instead of being carried, which is hard. At the grocery store, she doesn't want to ride in the cart, she wants to be carried which is just impossible! If she doesn't get her way, she will cry until we can distract her with something.

Hailey really likes bubbles and says "bubbles" whenever we go outside. She can kind of blow them, but mostly she sucks on the wand (yuck!).

Random pics

Here are some random pictures from the last month, since I haven't been very good about blogging this month!

Strong

If you ask Hailey how strong she is, this is the face you will get. She gets very serious and flexes her arms as much as she can. It's simply adorable.

Corn in the nose

Tonight at dinner Hailey was trying to put a piece of up her nose, we thought we stopped her in time, but we didn't. She had actually already shoved a piece in to her other nostril! Jeff called his sister who works for Bellingham Ear, Nose and Throat. I called my mom and other mommy friends trying to figure out what to do. We tried getting it out with tweezers, but it was too far up there. We tried getting her to blow her nose, which she does know how to do, but it wouldn't budge. She sneezed 3 times, and it didn't come out. So we finally called the after hours nurse at our doctor's office and they told us that because she was breathing fine, they wouldn't see her that night, but to go to the Bham ear, nose and throat tomorrow. I was really worried about her going to sleep with it in her nose, but it didn't seem to be bothering her.

Hailey woke up crying about 15 minutes after going to bed, and we let her cry for a little bit. But her cry sounded strange and not like her regular cry. So I got her out of her crib and brought her into the living room to rock with her and Jeff noticed her nose looked funny, and the piece of corn was sticking out of her nose so I was able to get it out before she sucked it back in! YIPPIE! Everyone slept good after that!

Hailey isn't going to be eating corn or peas anytime soon!

20 months old

Hailey is 20 months old now. She is growing up so fast and is talking up a storm, some of her new words are:

Bubbles
It's a baby!
Hi guys
Bye bye guys
Rapido (from Dora)
Says "two" when she has 2 things in her hand

She can also identify some colors when asked but not 100% of the time. Hailey is really into Dora the Explorer, and does a little dance in front of the TV when she wants to watch it. Our nightly routine is to sit in the rocking chair with Hailey while she drinks her milk and watch an episode of Dora. It's a nice way for her to wind down before bed. And I love this snuggle time!
