Larrabee State Park

A few days ago we went to Larrabee State Park to play on the beach. We hunted for crabs, threw rocks in the water and checked out the tide pools. Hailey had such a great time, she just loves spending time outside exploring.

Pancake feed

Last Saturday we went to a Fire Dept. near our house for a pancake feed. We ate some yummy food (we discovered Hailey loves sausage), then we checked out all the fire vehicles and watched older kids ride their bikes around a safety course.

Hovander Park

On a sunny day last week, we went to Hovander Park in Ferndale to see the animals and get some sun. Hailey loved the animals and even got nibbled on by a duck. It was so nice to be outside in the warm sun, it actually felt like summer! After the park, we went to DQ for a sweet treat!

The Human Race

A couple of weekends ago, before I got sick, Hailey and I did another 5K called The Human Race. It was down on the Bellingham waterfront and it was a beautiful day. Our time was 35:35, which I was pretty happy about because I hadn't trained very much. After the race, there was a lunch and a festival. Hailey got a cool hummingbird balloon...

Father's Day

Father's Day was pretty mellow around our house this year. I have been super sick with strep throat for the past week and have been pretty useless, so I wasn't able to give Jeff a fabulous Father's Day, in fact, he got up and made waffles for him and Hailey, then he opened his cards from all of us and then he took Hailey to the park to play while I slept :-( What a great daddy he is!

Jeff's Father's Day gift this year is the new iPhone 4 which will be arriving in the mail on Wednesday. We are both pretty excited about them because we are techie like that :-)

Happy Father's Day Jeff! Thanks for being such an amazing daddy to our princess and for being such a supportive, and great hubby to me. We love you!

Happy Father's day to my Dad, who spent his special day alone in Singapore for work :-( and Happy Father's Day to my father in Law, Gary! Love you both!

Painting

A couple months ago a branch fell on our roof puncturing a hole in the roof. This resulted in water leaking in to the ceiling and down the wall. So, we FINALLY got around to painting the ceiling, which we have wanted to do since we moved in anyway. The bright white paint really makes the room look nice, and Jeff even took out the chimney stem that was left over from when we got rid of the wood stove (the thing in the right hand corner of the pic). Now we have to repaint the living room and entry way, and do touch ups in the kitchen. FUN!

23 months

Seriously, Hailey is going to be 2 next month? Can time just stop please? She continues to get smarter each day and loves doing new things. She loves being outside and playing at the park. We have experimented with potty training, and last night she asked to go potty, and actually went on the potty. But we definitely aren't pushing potty training right now, we are going to give it a couple more months. Hailey's vocabulary doubles weekly and she continues to understand most of what we say. Hailey is really polite and constantly says "please, thank you, bless you" at appropriate times. She still needs to be prompted to do it to people she doesn't know, but that is understandable.

Hailey's favorite people/things right now are her niece Ashley, (who she is constantly asking for), MeMe and Papa (both sets of grandparents) and "Ceaszee" which is how she says Caesar (our dog).

Here are side by side pictures of Hailey a couple days ago and 1 year ago...

We love you little pumpkin head :-)

Ski to Sea Race

The day after the parade, we headed to Fairhaven to check out the street fair and to watch the racers come in after completing the final leg of the event, kayaking. It was another cold day, but the rain held off for most of the day. Hailey got her face painted for the first time (not the best $3 we have ever spent), she got to search for crabs on the beach, and got to eat a gigantic piece of pizza, which she almost finished. She got a really big red balloon that ended up popping on a tree branch, but she didn't seem to notice or care. I think she was distracted by the pizza :-)

Ski to Sea Grand Parade

After living in Bellingham for 4 years, we finally made it to the Ski to Sea Grand Parade as a family! It was a bit rainy in the morning, but the weather held out for the parade. Hailey loved the parade, and had so much fun waving to everyone who would look in her direction. She really liked the horses, and I have already decided that she is going to take riding lessons as soon as she is old enough.

Hanging with Tristen

Hailey and I got to meet up with the Scott's at Hillcrest Park last week for a much needed playdate with their son Tristen and Hailey. The kiddos haven't seen eachother since our trip to Banks Lake last summer, and the kids have grown so much since then. I wouldn't say that Tristen and Hailey actually played together, but they seemed to enjoy eachother's company. Hailey got to steal Tristen's snacks, and Tristen discovered he loves to swing. They both loved the slides and did such a great job going up and down them.

The pictures aren't too great because Jeff wasn't there to take pictures :-(

Bunnies

My niece and and nephew now have bunnies and Hailey couldn't be more excited about it. Hailey is pretty gentle with Sniffy and Bella, and constantly tells Ashley "down, down" so Ashley will put the bunnies on the ground so she can pet them. Hailey also calls the bunny "baby guys" which is a term she uses to describe anything small, including ants, bugs, and other small furry creatures.

Hair pretties

Hailey is really into "hair pretties" right now. She loves having clips put in her hair, and she also loves to take them out constantly and then ask to put it back in. I think they look adorable.
