Splash Park fun

With the warm weather, we have been visiting the splash park a lot!

Big Rock Garden

Last week, we walked to the Big Rock Garden in Bellingham which is a beautiful garden full of different sculptures. The walk to the garden is a nice gravel trail through the woods, which Hailey loved running around on and playing peek a boo behind different trees and bushes. Hailey enjoyed hugging all the sculptures, which probably wasn't allowed, but it was cute.
After visiting the garden, we headed to Silver Beach Elementary so Hailey could play on the playground. Hailey's favorite thing: the bars of course! We definitely have a little gymnast on our hands!

Gymnastics!

Hailey had her second gymnastics class on Tuesday and things went much smoother this time because Hailey had a much better teacher, and she felt more comfortable. For the first session, Jeff ended up tagging along with the class because Hailey was really shy, but for this session, she joined the 2 other kids in her class and did great participating and following directions. She is the youngest in the group (it's a 2-3 year old class), but we think she did great.

The class starts off with stretching, and then they move to an obstacle course with different stations that include somersaults, walking across a balance beam that is on the floor, jumping over mats, hanging from a bar and going around the bar. Her favorite thing to do is hang on the bars and lift her feet off the ground, she also enjoys doing somersaults. After the obstacle course, the class heads down to the gym area to jump into the foam pit, which would be my favorite part! Hailey did great jumping in to the pit with some help, and once in the pit, she crawls her way out and lines up to go again. They also get to do jumping exercises, where they get to jump down this long trampoline that is set in to the floor. It looks like a lot of fun! At the end of class, all the kids get stamps on their hands and feet which they love!

We have 2 more classes left in this session, and I think I will sign her up again when it's over. Which means I get to buy her a leotard! She really likes going to class, and I love watching her learn something new while having fun!

2 year appt.

Hailey had her 2 year check up on Monday and it went great. Hailey weighs 24 lbs 1 oz (18%) and she is 34 inches tall (52%). The nurse that usually gives Hailey shots sent another nurse in to do her dirty work because she said Hailey was too cute and happy to poke. She got 1 shot and only cried for a minute, she was quickly distracted by the sparkly band aid she got. I was happy to find out that she won't need more shots until her 4 year visit!

Hailey really loved the doctor, and kept asking where the "octer" was while we were waiting to be seen. Once Dr. Gass came in, Hailey played with the puppy dog on his stethoscope, she got to "blow out" the light on his ear checking instrument, and she got to sit on his lap and zoom around the room on the stool...and she would say "again" whenever he stopped.

She is growing like a weed...kinda wish we could stick her in a bubble and keep her little...

Water baby

Hailey is loving the hot weather, today she got to play in her pool all day long.

Sailing

On Tuesday, the Maupin's invited us to go sailing with them in Bellingham Bay. Of course we jumped at the chance to enjoy time out on the water with good friends! Bart was our captain and Jamie was our on board entertainment for Hailey.

I think being on the boat really relaxed Hailey and we thought she was going to fall asleep, but she got her second wind, and decided she wanted to explore the cabin and color a picture instead. Thanks Jamie for keeping her entertained!

Zoo fun with the Rogers family

On Hailey's birthday, we went to Woodland Park Zoo with the Rogers family who have 4 kids: Reilley, Hunter, Ethan and Lexi. It was a beautiful day and it was so nice to be outside. All of the kids enjoyed running around to different exhibits. Hailey liked the elephants and kept making an elephant noise when she saw them. We were a little disappointed with the Meerkat exhibit, as it was pretty small, but the kids liked looking at them. Unfortunately, we didn't get a picture of all the kids together, but there is one picture below of all the boys and Hailey checking out the fish.

Happy 2nd birthday Hailey!

We celebrated Hailey's birthday and day early with a small family party at our house. She wore a beautiful dress that her meme and papa McCoy brought back from Singapore. Hailey enjoyed opening her presents and quickly went from one gift to the next. She got some really great gifts, including a new swimsuit, sparkly shoes, a pink scooter, markers, lots of cute clothes, a tutu, blocks, a coat, hair pretties, 2 necklaces, and a tricycle.

Hailey was very excited about all of her gifts, but she was especially excited about the necklaces. She wanted them on right away, and then went around the room pointing to everyone's necklace saying "mommy's necklace" or "papa's necklace". We didn't even know she could say the word necklace. She wore them all day, and when she woke up the next morning, the first thing she said to me was "I want my necklace." She has been wearing them ever since (except for naps and bedtime).

After presents, we sang to Hailey, and I think she got embarrassed because she buried her face in the couch until we were done. She then got to blow out her candle. It took her a couple tries but she finally got it, and then she wanted to do it again and again, so we stuck a candle in her piece of cake and let her blow it out a few more times.

After the party, we headed down to a park near our house. Ashley and Lincoln rode their bikes, and Hailey got to ride on her new tricycle. Which she seemed to love.

It was such a great day, and we still can't believe that our baby is 2 (I have a feeling I will say this at every birthday!).

Looking back...

Here are some pictures from Hailey's 1st Birthday party. I can't believe that our daughter is going to be 2 tomorrow, and how little Hailey looks in these pictures. This year has flown by, and being a parent just gets better and better.

Deception Pass beach

On Friday Hailey and I met up with Amity and her kiddos, Hannah and Taylor to play at the beach. Amity brought her trusty wagon to help transport all of our essentials from the car to the beach, which we thought would be handy, but the wagon ended up tipping over while trying to get it down a hill (while carrying 2 toddlers and other miscellaneous stuff in our hands). We were quite the sight, and it was so great that the other people near us just stopped to watch instead of offer any kind of assistance.

The kids had a blast playing in the sand, and we even got some sun so the kids got to wade in the water a little bit. Hailey loved playing with Hannah, and I think Hannah enjoyed it too, and Taylor enjoyed playing in the sand and crawling on anything he could get near.

Can't wait to do it again Locken clan!
