Fun with the Fuzz 5K

On Saturday April 24, the Bellingham Police Dept. hosted the 1st annual Fun with the Fuzz 5K run, with all the proceeds going to the Behind the Badge Foundation. Jeff got off early that morning, so while he slept, Hailey and I headed down in the rain to meet up with friends to support an awesome cause. It was absolutely pouring prior to the race, but just as the race began, the rain stopped. I set out to try and run the whole thing, not thinking I would be able to, but I did, thanks to an awesome running partner! We did it in just over 34 minutes, and it felt amazing to complete it. Jeff and I have already signed up for 2 more races in June, including the Run with the Cops, not From Them 5K.

I have been taking Hailey to Lake Padden frequently to run the 2.6 miles around the lake and with 2 more races looming, it will only encourage me to keep it up...and I'm down 12 lbs too :-)

Fun in the sun

We visited a couple parks last week because the weather was soooo nice. Hailey got to hunt for crabs at Boulevard Park, which she loved. She would squeal when the crabs were in her hands and then she would drop them a few seconds later and demand that we put them back in her hands. She also just loved playing in the sand.

Notice her little dog made it in to both sets of pictures. She loves that little dog and often wants it and a baby to accompany her where ever she goes, except to bed, she doesn't want any babies or stuffed animals in her crib with her. She pushes them away or throws them on the floor. It's very strange!

Pals

Hailey adores Moose and thankfully Moose adores her too because Hailey can get pretty rough with her.

Tulip Festival

We visited the Tulip Festival this week and it was surprisingly busy for a weekday, but we had fun seeing all the pretty tulips. Hailey really liked smelling all the tulips and even licked a couple of them while smelling them. She liked running around at Roozengaarde and running down the rows of tulips.

The bottom two pictures are from our trip to the fields last year...Hailey was crawling then...oh how time flies!

Memory

We can't believe how fast Hailey is learning new things. She is using some 3 word sentences ("I don't know!") and she says new words that surprise us everyday. She also has quite the memory that we didn't realize she had. Example: About 2 weeks ago, we went to a restaurant in Bellingham to celebrate our friend's birthday. At the party was Hailey's friend Abigail, whose dad works with Jeff. We went back to that restaurant a couple days ago and as we were walking up the steps to go inside Hailey starting saying "Abigail, Abigail" and looking around for her. We had no idea that she would remember the restaurant, or that she had been there with Abigail! We were shocked, but at the same time, it was so cool to know that Hailey is capable of remembering things and associating one experience to another.

Our baby is growing up!

Hungry Hungry hippo

Hailey has been eating SO much lately, it is friggin' crazy! For breakfast she will eat 2 bowls of Cheerios and a yogurt. She is very vocal about what she wants and will request "eerios" and "yoger" and do the 'more' sign until we get it for her. Between breakfast and lunch, Hailey will snack on apples or crackers. For lunch, Hailey will usually eat whatever we are eating, followed by more snacking. For dinner, Hailey will eat a whole bowl of spaghetti or a sandwich. And prior to bedtime, she will go to her drawer of bowls and cups and get out a bowl, and run to the pantry and say "pees" (please) and point to her mouth, she wants to eat Crasins! And if we let her, she would eat multiple bowls of them while she drinks her milk.

She must be going through a huge growth spurt right now, and she definitly burns off a ton of energy throughout the day though. She wants to walk everywhere and loves to run around the house chasing the dogs everywhere.

Here is a picture of Hailey inhaling pizza at La Fiamma.

Bath tub beauty

Hailey continues to love her baths. She loves to play in the bubbles and give her baby a bath. She will splash around for as long as we let her. Last night she was in the bath for so long, that her hair was dry when she got out!

iPad excitement

I think everyone knows that Jeff is a gadget hound, just like my Dad. So it was no surprise that my Dad got the new iPad the day it came out...he was tracking the location of the box until it was delivered at his house. I happened to be visiting my parents when it arrived, and after seeing it, I knew that Jeff would want one. So after many phone calls to my father in law (who also wanted one), I decided to drive to the Apple store in Lynnwood and attempt to buy 2 of them. It was a success! My Dad, Jeff and Gary all love their iPad's. They are pretty cool!

Poor baby

Hailey and I got stuck in traffic the other day, and she was NOT happy about it.

Easter brunch

Hailey woke up on Easter morning and didn't want anything to do with her Easter basket. She finally got interested in it when she saw there was candy inside of it. Then it was off to meet Grandpa and Grandma Mac at Boundary Bay Brewery for a yummy brunch. After we ate, Hailey participated in her very first Easter egg hunt with other kids. She did really well and liked finding the "balls". She was so excited with the 2 eggs and a pencil that she found. She didn't want to leave and was very upset when we picked her up to leave.

Easter festivities

I hid some Easter eggs around the living room today to teach Hailey what she needs to do at an Easter egg hunt we are going to tomorrow. She caught on really fast and was totally into it. She loved her "lelmo" Easter egg basket, and had fun collecting all the "balls" in the basket. After she hunted for eggs a couple of times, I showed her that there was candy in the eggs. Bad idea. She wanted nothing to do with finding the eggs, and she just wanted to eat the candy, or "andy" as she calls it :-)

Hailey then got to color Easter eggs for the first time tonight. I think she liked it! She was a little rough with the eggs, and most of them ended up cracked but that's okay.

We are going to Easter brunch and egg hunt at Boundary Bay Brewery tomorrow (Jeff is sick, so hopefully he feels better), and on Sunday we are doing Easter dinner at my parent's house.

M&M face

M&M's do melt in your hand, and Hailey proved it tonight. She then wiped all the melted gooey-ness on her face.

4 year wedding anniversary

04/01/10 was our 4 year wedding anniversary! We went to dinner at El Gitano after I got off work. Jeff got me beautiful flowers and we exchanged cards. We plan on doing an over night trip to Seattle in May to celebrate when our schedule isn't so crazy.

I return to graveyard shift (6p-6a) on Monday for 4 months. Normally I dread it, but I am actually looking forward to it this time. I know that it will be exhausting, but I know I can get through it. Jeff will also be on nights, so Hailey will be spending the night with my parents in Mt. Vernon a couple times this month. I am so thankful they are willing to help us out, otherwise I am not sure what we would do.

Here are some pics from our wedding day at Tazer Valley Farms.
