Pacific Science Center

Last month we went to Seattle to visit the Seattle Science Center. Jeff and I hadn't been there in forever, so we weren't too sure how much there was going to be for Hailey to do. We were surprised to find that there was a whole toddler area with cool water toys to play with and a little music room. They also had a reptile area and a dinosaur section, which Hailey was afraid of :-) The neatest area was the butterfly room, which was SO hot, but there were butterflies everywhere and Hailey loved it. She kept sticking her finger out so the butterflies could land on it, but they didn't want to.

Boulevard Park

Even though it's been cold, we still like to get out of the house to do things. So we bundled up and went to the beach. The tide was in so there weren't any crabs to be found, but Hailey had fun throwing rocks and shells in to the water and digging around in a tree stump. After the beach, we walked down to Woods coffee for some hot chocolate and to play on the playground. We also got to watch a train go by, which Hailey thought was really cool.

Zoo fun

We renewed our Zoo membership during our most recent visit to the zoo. Hailey has so much fun checking out all the animals, that it only makes sense. Even though it was a cold day, we saw lots of animals. The best were the gorillas who were very playful. The baby gorilla was being very playful with it's mama and it was really cute to see their interactions. Hailey was concerned because the gorilla's didn't have shirts on :-)

Fun with John and Marka

My Uncle John and Aunt Marka stopped by for a visit on their way home from Canada. They hadn't seen Hailey since she turned one, so I was excited for them to see how much she has changed. Hailey took to John and Marka quickly, and enjoyed telling them stories and dressing them up. Hailey also got to show them the deer that walk through the back yard. Thanks for the visit!

Dress up

Hailey got a dress up box filled with princess dresses for Christmas from Papa Mac. She loves to pull everything out of the box and pile as much of the stuff on as she can...today she was really interested in the hats. She is such a little ham for the camera.

Police Ball 2010

This is the picture from the Police Ball in December. The quality of the picture is awful in person (we got a refund), but I'm sad because we forgot our camera at home that night, so this is the only picture we have of that night. SAD!

Park fun

Even though it's been cold, we have been playing outside! Hailey has really missed going to parks and swinging!

The Binky Fairy!

Before Christmas, I started telling Hailey the story of The Binky Fairy. The story goes like this: the Binky Fairy comes to your house in the middle of the night after a child gathers up all of their binky's. The Binky Fairy takes the binky's away and delivers them to little babies who don't have any binky's. The Binky Fairy then leaves a very special gift for the child.

Hailey seemed really excited about the story, and would ask when the Binky Fairy was coming to our house. So we decided to just go for it on New Year's Eve. Hailey really enjoyed reading the note from the Binky Fairy and got really excited when gathering her binky's and putting them in a big pig cookie jar. I thought for sure we would have 2 weeks of sleepless nights, but it really wasn't that bad. She cried for an hour and half off and on the first night, and I will admit, I almost caved and gave her a binky, but I'm so glad I didn't! The next morning when Hailey woke up, she got to read another special note from The Binky Fairy, and she got a Jessie doll (Toy Story) for being such a big girl! The second night she cried for about 45 minutes and only asked for her binky once. After that, she has been taking naps and going to bed just like normal!

Jeff made a really cute video of Hailey gathering up all her binky's and her finding her special gift. I will try to post it soon.
